FWA Aventura Writers Group

Members of Aventura Writing Group:

We have only 2 meetings left in this year - one more in October and then, one in December. There are no meetings in November due to the FWA Conference in Orlando and Thanksgivings.

The next meeting of our group will be held on Saturday, October 27th, from 2 to 4 pm at North Miami Beach Public Library. This is a critique meeting. So bring up to 5 pages of your work in progress or come to listen and to give your feedback to the others.

At the December 8th meeting, Sara Williams, novelist, will present Find the Perfect Pitch workshop. We'll do a hands-on pitch session where each writer will work with a partner, first to describe the work in a short statement or synopsis, and then to pitch it to the class.

The pitch is designed to pique the interest of an editor or a literary agent or the reader you hope to interest at a book-signing. You have about thirty seconds to put out the magic words that will make the reader pick up your book, or motivate an agent or an editor to ask to see your proposal and your sample chapters.

Sara Williams is a former magazine and newspaper journalist and columnist, now the ArcheBooks bestselling author of two novels, The Don Juan Con and The Serenoa Scandal. Please come on December 8th to participate in Sara's workshop.
